Are floor protection slabs suitable for horses?

Ground protection mats are totally suitable for horses. They are multifunctional and can be used for a variety of purposes:

  • Showers
  • Boxes
  • Stable yards
  • Corridors
  • Shelters (only on a concrete surface or to be laid on our stabilisation slabs)

They offer a soft, shock-absorbing surface that reduces the impact on horses' joints and tendons as they move. What's more, the rubber provides an anti-slip surface, which reduces the risk of falls and slips, especially in wet or muddy conditions. They are wear-resistant and can support the weight of horses, cows or other animals. Comfortable, this product can be used to replace bedding (straw in general) thanks to its thickness and create a real stall mattress for horses.

Overall, rubber floor protection mats offer many advantages in terms of comfort, safety and durability for horses in their daily environment.

As mentioned above, this product complements our large ÉKI Cob stabilising slab for horses and our small ÉKI Shet stabilising slab for horses.

Why have a rubber floor in a stable?

Rubber matting is important in a stable for a number of reasons.

Firstly, rubber stable mats provides a soft, shock-absorbing surface that reduces the impact on horses' joints and limbs as they move around.

Designed with pastille grips, rubber mats for horses provide an anti-slip system that offers extra safety. Rubber mats are also easy to maintain and clean. A quick sweep or spray of water is all it takes to get them clean. This helps to maintain a hygienic environment in the stable.

What's more, rubber is a durable and hard-wearing material, capable of withstanding the weight of horses and the frequent passage of heavy equipment such as trolleys, wheelbarrows and so on. It also provides thermal insulation, helping to maintain a constant temperature in the stable, especially in winter.

Overall, a rubber floor in a stable offers comfort, safety, durability and ease of maintenance, making it an essential choice for the well-being of the horses and the efficient management of stable maintenance.

How much does a rubber floor for horses cost?

Delivery prices also vary according to the number of pallets ordered. For example, for 1 pallet delivered, delivery will cost €95 excluding VAT and for 6 pallets delivered, delivery will cost €160 excluding VAT. Delivery is free for orders of 7 pallets or more.

How often should I change my stable floor?

The frequency with which you need to change the floor of your stable fitted with rubber mats depends on a number of factors, including how the stable is used, how the mats are maintained, etc. In general, rubber mats are designed to be durable and hard-wearing.

In a well-maintained stable, with normal use of the mats, it is generally advisable to inspect them regularly and replace them according to their condition. Some signs that it's time to replace rubber mats include cracks, tears, areas of excessive wear, loss of elasticity or loss of grip.

As a general rule, floor protection mats can last for many years if properly maintained and used. However, in stables that are very busy or subject to heavy use, they may need to be replaced more frequently, perhaps every 5 to 10 years. It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the mats and to replace them as soon as they show signs of deterioration in order to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the horses.
